Created by Africans long ago, the ankh is said to be the FIRST original--Cross. The ankh is often shown in the hands of important Egyptian figures, such as pharaohs and kings, preserving their immortality.
Throughout ancient Egypt the ankh was shown as a staff or 'djed' column. The djed column represented strength and stability and was thought to be a symbol for Osiris. Since it meant the key of life, it was thought to bring good luck to the owner.
